Visit of the XENONnT experiment

A long list of indirect evidences strongly suggests that there is 5-6 times more Dark Matter in the Universe than ordinary matter which makes up all we have seen so far. Various theoretical arguments point to a distribution of new particles and so-called WIMPS (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) are among the best candidates for Dark Matter. 

XENONnT is one of the leading experiments which aim at directly detecting particle Dark Matter in the Universe.  The experiment is located in the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS), the largest underground research center in the world, situated under 1400 m of rock below the Gran Sasso mountain in Italy.

This tour will give:

• an introductory explanation describing how XENONnT works
• a virtual visit to the experiment in the underground laboratory
• discussion of Dark Matter physics
• answers to all questions
