COVID-19 protective measures

IMPORTANT: The following information aims to help you with the preparation of your trip and stay in Tonale, but it is subject to changes depending on the evolution of the COVID situation in the region of Italy where the school is taking place.  Please refer to the National Tourism Agency for updated news or to this link for updates on the Trentino situation (search for “Vermiglio” and  the area around).

Travelling

Italy applies health-related restriction measures to incoming travellers, which may vary depending on their country of origin.

Before your trip, please complete the questionnaire of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at viaggiaresicuri.it. At the end of this process, you will be informed if there are any restrictions in place for travelling to Italy from your country, the documentation you will have to present and the conditions applied on your arrival.

For more information, you can contact  the Ministry of Health

  • from Italy: 1500 (free toll number)
  • from abroad: +39 0232008345 or +39 0283905385

or  visit its specific web page for travellers.

EU Digital COVID Certificate

Only persons with a EU Digital COVID Certificate will be admitted in the bus from Trento to Tonale and allowed to participate in the Tonale Winter School on Cosmology.  Note that from December to January, only people vaccinated or recovered can be admitted to restaurants, bar and events like our school (this does not apply to work and transportation). Also,  the EU Digital COVID Certificate  is now valid for 9 months from the 2nd dose, instead of 12.  Non-EU citizens can present a COVID-19 Green Certificate, in paper or digital form, issued by the health authorities of their home country, certifying vaccination recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Please bring your EU Digital COVID Certificate (or a paper print out of the QR code) together with a legal ID and carry it at all times. To avoid risks, we strongly encourage you to verify the validity of  this document prior to your arrival. Please download the official app of the Italian government VerificaC19 (Apple Store) (Google Play) and be aware of potential updates.

Beyond the above, we strongly encourage you to also take a PCR test before travelling  whatever  your status is, as an extra precaution.

Hygiene Protocol

  • Contact surfaces will be cleaned daily.
  • Shared work equipment such as microphones will be disinfected after each use.
  • Intermittent ventilation of the lecture hall will be enforced to ensure regular air exchange  (5-10 minutes every 45 minutes).

  • Wearing a face mask in all indoor public places is requested by law. While sanitary masks (not cloth ones though) are a priori allowed, we strongly encourage the use of FFP2 masks since it is likely that these become required by law.  In case of need, they can be bought in the pharmacy next to the lecture hall (Via Nazionale, 1/B).
  • Keep a safe distance of at least one meter from other people. This is especially important during coffee breaks and similar social activities involving the temporary removal of the face mask.  Attention is drawn to the cough and sneeze etiquette.
  • Wash your hands frequently or sanitize them with sanitizing gels (with at least 60% alcohol). You will find sanitizing gel dispensers in the lecture hall, as well as in the entrances of shops and other businesses.
  • Violations of these measures can lead to exclusion from the school.

In case of symptoms:

  • Stop attending the lectures immediately and notify the organizers for potential contact tracing.

  • Ask the hotel to find a single room for you and stay there until being contacted.
  • Self-test and/or call the medical service at 116117, or ask the hotel manager for the local medical services.
