Before arrival to Germany: Before flying, check if your status allows you to enter Germany (adding the airports you stop at, e.g. use https://airfrance.traveldoc.aero/).
In Germany: If you travel by train you have to wear at least a surgical mask, recommended is a FFP2-mask. In bus, tramway and other public transport this rule holds too.
It the University of Heidelberg: It is recommended to wear a surgical or FFP2 mask during the whole conference (except, if you are a student of the University of Heidelberg).
